Spring is finally in the air!
As we shake off the winter blues, it’s the perfect time to take inventory of our homes. Instead of just "cleaning," why not turn your excess into extra cash? Whether it's clothes you no longer wear or gadgets gathering dust, the goal is simple: Review, Recycle, and Sell.
I have found that going through your social media platforms user services like Facebook there is Marketplace. It's sort of part Craigslist, part eBay websites that allows you to buy, sell, or give things away free to other members on the platform. Whether it be to your own list of friends, or to everyone.
My preference would be to create a listing to the public. I keep my privacy settings to a minimum when it comes to selling things. I don't want my friend or family member know I'm selling something. My goal is to take inventory of my belongings that I can part with by selling and earning some money. It's a community built webpage that allows users to create a listing for their items.

Here are the simple steps I've taken to create a listing.
- Before even starting a listing on FB Marketplace, you may want to take inventory on things you'd like to sell. I'd go around each of my room and see what can be parted. If I don't use them anymore or have more than one item, I can gather. Take all of what you've found that are sellable in good shape and place in a section of your home or apartment to deem as your "mini store".
- Next carefully examine all goods/ items.
- Place a price on items or if you just want to give it away for free, make your notes.
- Before listing, decide if you want to have it available locally for pick up, meet up or want to send - personally, I prefer to set up as pick up only.
- On Facebook, go the the Marketplace tab
- Create a listing
- Choose listing type: Item for sale, Create multiple listings
- I'd start off with Item for sale
- Complete the fields, title, details
- Add photos, choosing at least 3 helps give the viewer better understanding of your item
- Note the price, category, and description
- Add more details
- Privacy option, I'd choose "Hide from friends"
- Carefully review your listing
- Post
Usually your listing will be good for a week or two then you have an option to relist, but check regularly to see how your fairing. There is a viewer count that you'll see on your listing, this helps you see if there's any traction to your listing's interest.
If you make a few dollars out of this, it will be worth it. One, you've parted with items that others can benefit and two, you'll be able to save some money for future needs.
Every penny counts!
