30-Day Declutter Challenge: Day 19

Oh my, there is more things I uncovered in my bathroom sink cabinet. Like my recent post, I found tons of small shampoo hotel bottles. Why have I not been using these and why am I collecting these things?

Reason, habit. When you pay for a hotel room, you automatically assume you should get your "monies" worth since you are staying in a hotel. But the point is actual use. Do I really need these? Answer is no. As I go through this declutter challenge, it fueled me to get rid of this, so we do not have to find a home for these things. Sure, you can give it to someone who needs it, but you have not really solved the problem of sustainability and intentional living. I move to continue to be mindful in my consumer habits, so I do not get to this moment.

Everyone should reflect on the "stuff" they have and try to be more earth wise. When I was in high school in Hawaii, I entered in the Science Fair competition. My topic was environmental pollution. I had my makeshift 3 panel stand up cardboard with all the information I could summarize to address environmental pollution. Living in Hawaii, we have extremely limited resources and as a high schooler, I recognized this aspect. I did not win the competition, but I received honorable mention. Today, it is like so evident we need to address this daily. Sadly, society has their head in the sand. I never forgot that issue as a new person growing up in Hawaii.

So, here is my thought to declutter more. Think twice before making that purchase. "Do I really need this?" and "Will this be more sensible use in my life?" If yes, get it. I am trying not to be idealistic, but realistic. As we age, can we really take these stuff as we get older and still be useful in our lives?

Give it a thought.
