Savings Earned By Adopting One Good Mental Habit

Frugal living sometimes equates to good mental health. When you are in control of your finances and in a manner that is thoughtful and rewarding it becomes an investment in your livelihood. SHOPPING IN THE MORNING The idea of living within your means creates an approach to how you do things; up to the point of when and how you see things. Here's an example, like most people we tend to do our grocery shopping after work or on weekends. This is the time when it's most convenient. However, I recently tried a different approach. After writing out my list of things to pick up for shopping, I decided to go to Trader Joe's Grocery in the morning. Since my list was the basics, I could pick up a few things and then head to work. Generally, I would store the perishables in our office kitchen fridge. DIY. Bathroom Faucet. Install.

I started watching a YouTube video on how to install a brand new bathroom faucet. The video lasted for less than 10 minutes. After watching the video, I thought I'd take on a project of this "manageable" size. It was to replace an old faucet that needed updating and boy did it need one. Plus, I figured it would be a very cost effective way to update a dated bathroom. Small touches can go a long way. So I ordered my faucet through Wayfair.com after researching an inexpensive faucet, water saving, and contemporary looking for the my bathroom. This one I found for $65.00. Here's my older faucet and boy, did it need upgrading. Clearly I bit into this project more than I could chew off. I was not prepared to deal with time, tools, and costs. First off, I did not realize how old this faucet was, it took me hours just to detach everything from the water lines to the connections that secured the faucet. Another thing was that I didn't have enough space to move around

Living On One Income Takes Courage

In my last post, I wrote briefly about my experience of living on my own and trying to move on. Well, I've started that, so now what? I realized after living like a person with two incomes it really didn't feel tough especially living in a very expensive City. Well, reality check, your life style changes. So, after having to start living on my own, and in a new environment, I looked and said to myself, "this is my new reality". I have to really live within my means. I was careful not to lose sight of the joys of living in a culturally dynamic city and to continue to live but within reason. The first thing I did was to pull out a full map of the immediate area of where I now live. I prepared a new budget that would allow me to live well with what's around me. It helped me settle myself in to my new surroundings and know neighborhood layout. I'd like to share some tips that might be helpful and be a cost effective experience moving forward. RECYCL
